moonwork missive: new moon ๐

years ago, i often used to offer tarot spreads around the new & full moons. this slowly drifted away from my public practice as i read tarot less, finding that, as with journaling, i didn't need it as much as i used to when i had built enough somatic capacity to be with my experience as it happened & to trust my embodied sense of my perspective & needs. lately living in polycrisis without enough resource, i've been finding myself more in need of this type of support: a way to give structure without having to overthink, a way to interrupt deeply entrenched ways of seeing & choosing.
here is a new moon spread that invites you to plant a seed & to receive guidance on how to grow it: bright hot sun on the left, cool sweet rain on the right. you can grab your own deck & divine for yourself, or scroll down to see the cards i pulled for any & all of you who read this, from cathy opie's classic dyke deck that was recently reprinted. NSFW depending on your work; there be titties ahead.

seed: 4 of diamonds (pentacles/earth), a reminder from this brazen topless femme that holding the boundaries necessary to feed & rest yourself is what makes everything possible. they have unlearned the internalized femmephobia that denigrates being "high-maintenance," knowing that they are the #1 person maintaining themself.
sun: jack of clubs, a jock in high boots with a fishing rod, tackle box & net, heading off on an adventure & glancing back to see who's following, or at least checking out their ass. they don't mind being seen in the particular trappings of their trade but know the specificity attracts who & what is specifically for them.
rain: JOKER, a dog & their dyke pretending to be a dog, reminding you that the trickster is as pervasive through human existence & culture as water, and that no matter how prepared you think you are, something can always get shaken up. this, too, feeds us.
if you liked reading this, i'd love if you forwarded this to a friend or left me a tip! this publication is entirely reader-supported.
